Training on Financial Facilities for SMEs held in Kiev

FIT4SMEs second training in Belgrade

Twenty-six Business Support Organization partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia and more than one hundred Small and Medium Enterprises attended the FIT4SMEs training event in Belgrade on 3-4 April 2012.

At the start the FIT4SMEs Project trainings

The second phase of the FIT4SMEs Project, managed by Informest and co-financed by the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Central European Initiative (CEI) through the Know-How Exchange Programme, started in October 2011, foresees in following weeks a series of training meetings offered to BSOs of the non-EU CEI Member States in the field of financial facilities provided by international financial institutions for small and medium enterprises.

The interested BSOs from the Project recipient countries in joining can apply and register to participate to the Project second phase. The already registered BSOs can update their listing.
The registration process is open until October 30, 2011.

Second phase of the FIT4SMEs Project

From October 1st 2011 starts the second phase of the FIT4SMEs Project. It is the further step of a 24-months programme developed by Informest and co-financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region (Italy) and the Central European Initiative (CEI) through its Know-How Exchange Programme (KEP). The objective is to strengthen skills and improve capacities of participating business support organisations (BSOs) from non-EU CEI member states in the field of financial instruments made available by international financial institutions (IFIs) to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), in order to provide technical assistance to a pilot group of selected SMEs in each recipient country to facilitate their access to international financial schemes for investments.

FIT4SMEs Project: training opportunities for BSOs in nine East European countries

The Project "Financial facilities for SMEs: training and capacity building for Business Support Organisations in non-EU member states of the Central European Initiative - FIT4SMEs" has started at the beginning of February 2011, aiming at training staff of selected business intermediary organisations in the area of SMEs-dedicated financial instruments made available by international financial institutions (IFIs) such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank Group, or the European Investment Bank (EIB). The Project is implemented by INFORMEST, Development Agency for Economic Cooperation based in Gorizia (Italy), and financed by the Central European Initiative (CEI) through its Know Exchange Programme (KEP) and by the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy).

FIT4SMEs International Conference

On 13th and 14th April 2011 was held in Trieste the International Conference of the FIT4SMEs Project on “Financial facilities for SMEs: training and capacity building for Business Support Organisation in non-EU member states of the Central European Initiative”, co-financed by the CEI through the KEP Programme and the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The Conference was opened by the welcoming institutional addresses of Mr. Giorgio Rosso Cicogna, Alternate Secretary of the CEI, followed by Mr. Marco Lombardi, Counselor from Directorate General for EU of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Federica Seganti, Councilor for economic activities of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia and Mrs. Silvia Acerbi, Vice-President of Informest, the latter as the project implementing body.

The morning technical session, moderated by Mr. Guido Paolucci, Programme Manager from the Secretariat for CEI Projects, Official-co financing Unit - EBRD, dealt with a focus on acting International Financial Institutions: general overview, programmes and facilities dedicated to SMEs, followed by questions and answers by the participants. The speeches were given by Mr. Giulio Moreno, EBRD Head of Sarajevo Resident Office (B&H), Massimo Cingolani, Managerial Adviser of EIB General Directorate for Lending and Massimiliano Paolucci, senior External Affairs Officer and Head of Office of the World Bank Group - Southern European Office. Subsequently, Ivan Curzolo, Head of the Unit Joint Technical Secretariat for the South East Europe Programme, closed the session with a presentation on the role of territorial cooperation in the development of South East Europe, the state of art and perspectives towards Europe 2020.

FIT4SMEs conference

The afternoon works were devoted to a specific Panel on Serbia on country economic profile and investment opportunities offered by the First Counselor of the Embassy of Serbia in Italy Rade Berbakov, with a contribution ensured by the Serbia project participating Business Support Organisations (Agency for the development of Temerin Municipality, Sombor Regional Chamber of Commerce and European Affairs Fund of AP Vojvodina). Three parallel panels distinguished by the geo-political belonging (CEI-EU candidate countries; CEI-EU potential candidate countries and CEI-ENP countries), have then allowed to all the project BSOs to shortly introduce their presentations (see the above list) regarding the local business environment in which they operate and the economic potential and opportunities of the territory. The Director of the Informest Economic Cooperation Department, Sandra Sodini, had the task to close the daily works, lingering on the necessity to support the SMEs development system in the nine non-EU countries involved into the project, offering concrete opportunities of information and sustainment in benefitting from financial resources and instruments put at disposal by main International Financial Institutions.

The second day of the Conference started with a presentation on the role of the International Arbitration Court of the Adriatic and Ionian Area given by Michele De Vita, General Secretary of the Ancona Chamber of Commerce (Italy), afterwards Informest project managers hold a training session focused on drafting project proposals to be financed within the main instruments for territorial cooperation as SEE, IPA, EuropeAid and cross-border programmes.
